Our wallet chain customers are typically pretty happy with their purchase. As a result, they tend to want to wear their chains everywhere. Occasionally we hear stories of panic however when a customer tries to take their chain onto an airplane, or to a concert, or some other event where maybe security doesn't allow such items...
We took a short hiatus on making seats to focus on getting all the wallet and belt orders we've had coming in. Short of working on the remaining Zebra wallets, we're (humblebrag inbound) doing a dang fine job keeping up on orders right now. We recently got a fresh batch of seat pans, so we decided to make a few premium seats...
The fact of the matter is, most of the belts you buy at the store are garbage... Belts are at their best when they're uncomplicated. Simple. We take 1, sometimes 2 (for exotic) strips of high quality leather and give them a clean crisp edge. We size them, sew them, wax them and then add the brass hardware. That's it. We don't cheap out on materials, we don't fuss on fancy details, we just care about the quality of the product you wear...
Celebrate Fat Tuesday in Style with this Purple and Green Alligator Combo from Anvil Customs This practically juicy purple and green combo is the perfect set for someone looking for something a little bit more funky. So what are we looking at here...
We offer a couple of smaller, pocket style wallets for folks who don't necessarily carry a ton of stuff. Don't get us wrong, you can still shove plenty of stuff in a Sarasota... but it's probably going to limit your volume a little more than say a full size bifold would. We have two unique wallet styles, The "Puritan" and the "Sarasota." As well as a nifty Money Clip style wallet.
There are aspects of the internet that one might refer to as "elder" as in, "respect your elders." Before the concept of YouTube comments, before Facebook, yes even before the practically ancient "MySpace" there were Forums. As a company that cherishes things that are donethe old fashioned wayits no different with matters of the digital age.
I had a great question from a NEW Anvil Crew member today who messaged me.He was wondering how it all worked as far as ordering an Anvil Wallet. It made me think there might be others who are new or might need direction on How To Order. Here’s what I told him:
From time to time, I like to shout out my favorite people, things, places, etc. Below is a short list of my current Likes. If you've followed me for a while, you know I don't at all mind shouting out my liking of fellow leatherworkers who also are in the business. So don't be surprised by my choices here, I would love to see everyone WIN at success....by now, you should know that.
Springfield Missouri is a beautiful town. It's where Anvil calls home, and it's also where the 8th annual "Birthplace of Route 66" festival is happening! If you're lucky enough to be in town be sure to stop by the shop and say hello!
As many of you know, the chopper seat is one of the fundamental reasons Anvil Customs' story began. We've been blessed with the chance to make some truly righteous bike seats over the years. That being said, this solo spring chopper is absolutely, hands down one of the best pans we've ever put together. The genuine alligator belly has some really great lines. We couldn't be happier with how it turned out. The antique wine color finish gives the seat a beautiful warm reddish hue and I cannot wait to see it on someones bike.
Today is opening day for Major League Baseball 2018. Are you hype? We certainly are. Obviously we root for our home team—The STL Cards around here but, honestly we're always happy with a good game. Here's some thoughts we've had around the shop.
ALSO! We actually still have a couple of these rad Yankees/Dodgers wallets that we tooled awhile back so you can support your team all season long! If you're interested, give them a peek!
We make wallets. We're pretty dang good at it too. In recent years we've seen an increase in people asking for RFID protecting liners in our products. Being a bit of a skeptic, we started poking around to see if there was any legitimacy in people's fears. Well, you might have noticed that we still don't make any wallets with RFID protection and here's why.
Anvil Customs is proud to call Springfield, Missouri home. This city has ton of great places to eat, drink and shop. Obviously, we're here so that's a given place to visit. But we thought we'd take a moment to shout out some new places, and some old favorites to check out while you're in town.
This group has been created for a couple of reasons. Namely, this group is to be a community where Fans of Anvil Customs Leather come to communicate with each other and us about the products they own and would love to see us craft in the future. Additionally, this is a place where Fans can Buy, Sell, Trade & Collect Anvil products.
If you're lucky enough to own one of our Chainmaille wallet chains, you know that they're some of the best money can buy. They're tough, they look incredible, and they're the perfect compliment to any Anvil Customs Chain wallet. Over the years we've had several types of weaves and styles, and more recently the collection has grown quite large.
First things first, the newTrifold Design is LIVE!If you're looking for a chain wallet that can hold EVERYTHING this is the one. Seriously, 6 card slots and one giant bill section--Its a beautiful thing.
You might have noticed some changes around the online store. Functionally, the site should perform a lot smoother across the board for you folks...
Thanks to our amazing customers we've had another wonderful year at Anvil Customs. 2017 was a busy year, and we've got a whole heckuva lot of exciting stuff planned out for 2018. Again, we can't say it enough around here, thank you to the greatest customers in the world!
Next on our list of featured tools we use around the shop is the Economy Hand-Operated Bluegrass "EZ Edge" Strap Edger. This beauty is designed to put an even edge on leather straps of various widths. We use a two-sided version in the shop, but they also offer a four-sided version as well.
Once we've decided that a product is viable we enter the prototype phase. Each product goes through several stages of revision until we come up with a final design. Our high quality leather takes awhile to break in, so we also want to consider how the product will age. We check stress points and see if we need to reinforce any sections that require stitching or hardware.
I have to say, Ryan did a fine job setting up new shelves in the shop. They have classy, rustic sort of look to them that I think people will enjoy. The shelf itself is made from a high quality 36" wide Walnut plank.
These excellent leather punches are perfect for knocking the ends off of belts, and punching slots on buckle turn backs. Each one of these is hand forged right here in America. The quality of the edge, the weight - I mean everything about these simple punches is beautifully elegant.
